Curated by Kaight, the popular downtown and Brooklyn shop, an assortment of fashion items and accessories were for sale in conjunction with our June exhibition, Leaf // Cloud: Nature Tangible and Transcendent. All of the artists participating in the trunk show address sustainability through their use of textiles, handwork and the dye process. Exhibitors included: Abigail Doan, Sono Kuwayama, Fr. Andrew O'Connor, Meiling Chen, Kizzy Jai Knight, Marcus Hicks, Melissa Kirgan and XZ of Eko-Lab and Ceca Georgieva.

The 2010-2011 school year marks The Generation Project's first full operational year. To celebrate the collective impact on over 6,000 low-income K-12 students since launch, The Generation Project gathered its biggest supporters, dedicated donors, and new friends at events to be held in Chicago, Detroit, New York, Washington, D.C., New Orleans and San Francisco. Guests enjoyed hors d'oeuvres, beverages, silent and live auctions, and live entertainment.

"Leaf // Cloud: Nature Tangible and Transcendent," curated by Alicia Lubowski-Jahn, was an exploration through objects and art of the natural world. It included eco-conscious artworks by Trey Speegle and Dana Matthews, Susan Benarcik, Liz Burow, Lilian Cooper, Clemens Kois, John Patrick, and Patrick Winfield. Participating designers included Fernando and Humberto Campana, Kevin Cunningham, Emiliano Godoy, Stewart Webb, and Brooklyn-based designers Stéphane Hubert, Daniel Michalik, and Colleen and Eric Whiteley.

An American Memory, a group exhibition guest curated by Michael Martin and featuring works by Hannah Chalew, Georgia Kennedy, Taylor Bonds, Siobhan Feehan, and Philip Jordan, followed the lineage of great American chroniclers through a conveyance of the beautiful decay of cities. While it is the people who make a nation, it is the land on which they tread that defines them. An American Memory explored this relationship by evoking a sense of nostalgia for the romantic ideal of America that is ever dynamic.

Room for Two is a full room conceptual installation, featuring Sam Baron + Catarina Carrieras' linen curtains and throw pillows, among other works by contemporary designers and artists. Guests viewed the new works and met the designers and artists.

The Price of Flowers, an award winning short film written and directed by Ashley Charbonette, was screened in our courtyard. Entirely shot and cast in New Orleans. The film stars Lance Nichols (Tremé) and Justin Scalise (Big Easy Award Winner and Falstaff Award nominee).

Emily Fischer of Haptic Lab showed a selection of her quilts and kites, in addition to leading a tutorial on making charming box kites that we flew  in Central Park that afternoon. Box lunches provided by Organicoa kept our bellies full.
