Biography & Artist Statement
Born in Seoul, Korea in 1968, Jito obtained his BFA in Fine Arts from Kyung Won University in Korea and subsequently graduated from Boston University with a MFA in Set Design. In 1998, he began to work as a painter, as well as a graphic and set designer, for Cooper Productions and Pencilogic in Boston. He relocated to New York City in 2003 to work as a designer and photographer. In 2005, Jito became artistic director and fashion photographer for Ellahoya, a women’s clothing line in Korea and, the following year, began to teach painting at Montclair State University in New Jersey. Currently, Jito lives and works in New York as a fashion photographer and art director.
My style is based on the fusion of Korean and American culture. I strive to find unconventional beauty.
